VANCOUVER HOT CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL

This weekend marks the beginning of the Hot Chocolate Festival, which is a great reason to get out and enjoy a treat at one of the many local cafes taking part in this event. With over 162 hot chocolate designs featured at 105 locations, there is lots to discover!
EXPLORE THE WORLD BENEATH YOU AT DISCOVERY DAY
Sunday 10 am – 2 pm, Vancouver Convention Centre East
Curious about the world beneath you? Bring the whole family to Discovery Day, hosted by the Association for Mineral Exploration. Discover BC’s fascinating world of minerals and mining through interactive, hands-on exhibits. Explore ancient fossils, touch billion-year-old rocks, see tech-driven innovations in action and more.
TASTE OF CHINATOWN
Saturday 11 am – 1 pm, Chinatown Storytelling Centre
A Taste of Chinatown is a month long celebration, but this Saturday is Family Saturday where it is all day free admission for youth age 17 and under, guided tours of the storytelling centre, and this weekend you can join a festive workshop where you can create vibrant Lunar New Year decorations using red envelopes.
LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION AT MACKIN HOUSE
Saturday 12 pm – 3 pm, Mackin House, Coquitlam
Learn about Lunar New Year traditions through stories and songs with Yuto Books, with story time sessions available throughout the day in three different languages (English, Mandarin, Cantonese). There will also be crafts and various snacks and drinks to try out. All ages and language backgrounds are welcome. Free. No registration required.
CANYON LIGHTS
Saturday & Sunday, Capilano Suspension Bridge, North Vancouver
This is the final weekend too enjoy Capilano Suspension Bridge’s beautiful Canyon Lights. Journey into the rainforest and walk high above the forest floor between the eight tallest Christmas trees in the world on Treetops Adventure. And the gorgeous “Arc de Lumina” light tunnel will once again wrap its way along a portion of Cliffwalk.
LIGHTS AT LAFARGE
Saturday & Sunday 4 pm – 10 pm, LaFarge Lake, Coquitlam
There is still time to enjoy this gorgeous light display that encircles the 1.2 km Lafarge Lake loop. It starts at dusk and stays on until 10 pm. Lace up your walking shoes (or slip on your rain boots) and embark on this beautiful lake loop.
LIGHTS TO THE LODGE
Saturday and Sunday, Cypress Mountain
Enjoy the beautiful snowy snowshoe trek to Hollyburn Lodge, only 1.5km along our self guided snowshoe trail! The Light to the Lodge loop is lit with LED lights strung sustainably through the forest boughs of ancient Cedar, Fir and Hemlock trees.
