We are down to the last days of April and this weekend takes us right out of that month and launches us into May. Now we just need the weather to warm up a little so we can actually break out the spring clothes! There are a number of fun events going on around town this weekend – here’s my guide for the April 30 and May 1.
PARTY FOR THE PLANET

BC’s Largest Earth Day Celebration! With over 80 booths of activities: there’s something for everyone at Party for the Planet! Get your face painted, make eco-themed crafts, & enjoy kid-friendly entertainment. Get some native plants to make your yard more wildlife-friendly and more.
COMMUNITY BLOCK PARTY
Saturday and Sunday, Lansdowne Centre, Richmond
More than 20 food trucks, local market vendors courtesy of BC Shop Local, live music and entertainment, and much more at this festival.
CHILLIWACK TULIP FESTIVAL
Saturday and Sunday, 41310 Royalwood Ave Chilliwack
This is the final weekend of the Chilliwack Tulip Festival, so don’t miss out! Walk around and enjoy acres of flowers in full bloom. There are a ton of wonderful spots to grab a photo, enjoy the farm shop and some food trucks.
RIVER BASIN DAYS
Saturday, Brae Island Regional Park, Langley
Head to Brae Island Regional Park in Langley Township and join the Fraser River Discovery Centre in looking for wildlife, and submit observations to iNaturalist. Guided walks will be from 12:30 – 1:30, and 2:00 – 3:00.
RICHMOND NIGHT MARKET
Saturday 6 pm – 12 am, Sunday 7 pm – 11 pm, 8351 River Road, Richmond
The Largest Night Market in North America is back starting this weekend. Enjoy delicious food, awesome deals and wonderful entertainment! There will be over 200 retail and food vendors and fun games area.
TAVES FARMVILLE RETURNS
Saturday and Sunday 11 am – 6 pm, Taves Family Farms, Abbotsford
Spring is a great time to visit some new baby animals! Farmville opens again for the season this weekend. Visit the animals, bounce on the jumping pillow, ride the pedal karts, enjoy apple cider slushies and mini donuts.
KERRISDALE CARNIVAL DAYS
Saturday, Kerrisdale Village west 41st
Catch the Kerrisdale Little League parade as they walk along 41st to Elm Park at 10 am. Then enjoy sidewalk sales and entertainment in the village, along with horse and carriage rides leaving from 41st and Yew all day long.
