SURREY TREE LIGHTING FESTIVAL & HOLIDAY MARKET

Saturday, 12 pm – 8 pm, Surrey Civic Plaza

Enjoy beautiful light displays,  photos with Santa, free amusement rides, toddler town, letters to Santa station, live entertainment, and many other surprises! A free event with lots of fun for everyone!

LUMIERE VANCOUVER

Starts this weekend, various venues including in the West End, Gastown and Yaletown

Head to the website to view a complete list of locations and events for this festival which kicks off this weekend and runs until November 27. There are some gorgeous light displays that go up as part of this festival, some of my favourites are the large installations along English Bay.

CANYON LIGHTS

Saturday and Sunday, 11 am – 9 pm, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

This gorgeous seasonal light display kicks off this weekend. This is a favourite place for our family to visit over the holiday season. LIGHTS OF HOPE AT ST. PAULS

Saturday and Sunday, St Pauls Hospital on Burrard

The beautiful light display is now up in front of St Pauls Hospital. We love taking a walk or drive by to admire this lovely sight every year.

EAST VAN PANTO: THE LITTLE MERMAID

Saturday 7 pm, The Cultch Theatre

The pantomime is a holiday tradition for many! This family friendly theatrical production is featuring the story of the Little Mermaid this year.

RCMP TOY DRIVE

Saturday, 8 am – 1 pm, Lansdowne Centre, Richmond

The RCMP is collecting new and unopened toys this holiday season in the parking lot of Lansdowne Centre. There will be mini donuts, a caricature artist, Coca Cola Christmas truck, plus visits with Santa and more!

CINEPLEX COMMUNITY DAY – FREE MOVIES!

Saturday, doors open at 9 am, Cineplex Theatres

Enjoy a morning of free family movies at Cineplex theatres. Movie-lovers are invited to kick off the holiday season and visit their local Cineplex theatre to celebrate Community Day by enjoying a FREE movie and helping raise money for BGC Canada (formerly Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada). Seats are on a first come first serve basis, the four movies showing are: Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, The Spongebob Movie, and The Lost City.

TAKE IN A UNIVERSITY SPORTS GAME

Saturday 5 pm & 7 pm, War Memorial Gym and Doug Mitchell Arena, UBC

The UBC volleyball teams are hosting the Alberta Golden Bears this weekend. Bring the family out to catch some great volleyball. Women play at 5 pm with the men game starting at 7 pm. And the UBC Women’s hockey team is also in action on Saturday when they host Alberta at Doug Mitchell Arena at 3 pm. Tickets are free for kids.
