LIGHTS AT LAFARGE
Saturday and Sunday, LaFarge Lake, Coquitlam
This beautiful and free event begins this weekend. This is Coquitlam’s stunning outdoor light display around LaFarge Lake. It is stroller friendly, and the distance is not too long so its very doable for young kids. If you want to avoid the crowds consider visiting during off-peak hours (before 6 p.m. and after 8 p.m.)
FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS
Saturday and Sunday, Van Dusen Gardens
This lovely event is kicking off this weekend. It’s stroller friendly with lots of easy paths to walk around the extensive gardens. You can expect to see one million lights decorating 15 acres of Van Dusen Botanical Garden. There are themed areas, tasty treats, unique light features, and holiday music.
HERITAGE CHRISTMAS
Saturday and Sunday, Burnaby Village Museum
It’s opening weekend for Heritage Christmas where you can wander the village and experience a special atmosphere of festive lights, and the traditional decorations. There will also be seasonal entertainment, demonstrations and activities. Enjoy a meal or treat at the Ice Cream Parlour. Gate admission is free.
NORTH POLE EXPRESS
Saturday and Sunday, West Coast Railway Heritage Park, Squamish
The North Pole Express is truly unique experience, especially for train lovers! Passengers will start at the Candyland Station where hot chocolate and festive characters await, then take your seat on the full-sized vintage train for a 50-minute Yuletide journey featuring carols, cookies and more. A stop at the North Pole and you get to meet the elves as well as Santa and Mrs Claus. There’s also a miniature train you can ride around Santa’s workshop. This is a more expensive (but very special) trip.
CLOVERDALE CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL
Saturday and Sunday, Museum of Surrey
A free, local, indoor Christmas event. Cloverdale businesses and organizations have some friendly competition as local businesses come together to decorate the best tree! Trees are displayed in the large museum foyer throughout December. Visitors can cast their votes for a chance to win a $100 Cloverdale shopping spree.
CHRISTMAS IN WILLIAMS PARK
Saturday and Sunday, Williams Park, Langley City
For nearly three decades, the park has transformed into an annual winter wonderland full of twinkling lights and joyful decorations. This long-standing tradition will continue to bring holiday cheer to visitors with a drive-through experience. This event is free but donations are welcome.
LUMAGICA SURREY
Saturday and Sunday, Cloverdale Fairgrounds
Back for the 2022 holiday season, you can bring all the family along for this magical evening of festive delights. Beautiful light display, plus a 1 km light walk, live entertainment, food, and even an artisan market. Free photos with Santa that you can take on your phone too. This is mostly an undercover experience and there is cocoa, mulled wine and more available when you need to warm up.
DISNEY ON ICE: ROAD TRIP ADVENTURES
Shows on Saturday and Sunday, Pacific Coliseum
Enjoy your favourite Disney characters taking to the ice! I will be attending a Sunday show with my kids. I think they are going to love it. Tickets are still available.
FESTIVAL OF TREES
Saturday and Sunday, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
The lobby of the Fairmont Hotel will transform into a holiday wonderland with beautifully decorated trees to raise funds for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. Feel free to bring the family in and explore the hotel to view the Christmas trees.
VANCOUVER CHRISTMAS MARKET
Saturday and Sunday, Jack Poole Plaza, Vancouver
Peruse lots of holiday shopping, enjoy German-style food and drinks, hop on the Christmas carousel, and take in the festive music, and lights. It’s a really lovely time!
CANYON LIGHTS
Saturday and Sunday, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
A stunning holiday treat when you can wander among the lights in the gorgeous forest and treetop adventure! A big plus for BC residents – admission is the same cost as a one year membership and that includes Canyon Lights.
DUNBAR HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR

Thousands of handmade crafts, Over 140 local artisans and live entertainment. $5 entry at the door. Advance tickets are $4.
STEVESTON CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR
