Family Events for Thanksgiving Long Weekend

CRANBERRY FESTIVAL

Saturday 10 am – 5 pm, Fort Langley National Historic Site

Join Fort Langley National Historic Site for the most berry-filled event of the year! Get your scarecrow judging skills ready, put on your stomping boots, and prepare to be amazed by the blacksmith’s cran-tastic creations! Put on rubber boots and jump into the popular cranberry stomp, as well as other farm-related games.

HARVEST DAYS

Saturday – Monday 9 am – 4 pm , VanDusen Botanical Garden

Celebrate the fall season with the return of Harvest Days at VanDusen Botanical Garden. The veggie garden and maze area will be transformed for fall with fun photo areas, activities and entertainment, tasty treats, and more. Enjoy delicious snacks from a selection of tasty food vendors. Explore the garden’s autumn highlights afterwards, including sugar maples, ginkgo trees, bald cypress, and the stunning Autumn Stroll. A fall-inspired craft section will be set up for kids while live music plays.

FRIGHT NIGHTS

Saturday-Monday 6 pm – 11 pm , Playland, Vancouver

Playland once again will transform into a terrifying Halloween-themed experience with seven haunted houses, thrill rides, creepy décor, roaming monsters and live performances. Check out our new attractions including the new haunted house, The Void, and a revamped Carn-Evil experience! This one is for the older kids, not recommended for children under the age of 13.

PUMPKINS AFTER DARK

Saturday- Monday 6:30 pm – 10 pm, Swanguard Stadium and Central Park, Burnaby

Featuring over 10,000+ hand-carved pumpkins. Explore the magical pathway of lit pumpkin sculptures and displays, with music, sounds and special effects. With classic Halloween characters, dinosaurs and dragons, movie and pop culture icons. Adult tickets start at $18.95, Youth at $15.95. Children 3 and under are free.

ONCE UPON A HAUNTED SEA

Saturday – Monday 10 am – 5 pm, Gulf of Georgia Cannery, Steveston

The Haunted Sea returns to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site. Once Upon a Haunted Sea is a fairy-tale reboot of our annual Halloween event. Encounter what lurks below the waves and is haunting our oceans and sea life. Drop-In anytime. Suitable for kids of all ages.

9TH ANNUAL URBAN PUMPKIN TRUCK

Saturday 11 am – 3 pm, Kits Community Centre, Vancouver

Drop by the corner of 12th and Larch and pick up your pumpkin (while supplies last), There will also be face painting and a balloon artist.

GIANT PUMPKIN WEIGH OFF

Saturday 11 am – 3 pm, Krause Berry Farm, Langley

This event is free for everyone to enjoy. It’s a great opportunity to capture photos with some of the largest pumpkins you’ll ever see. Last year’s winner was over 1600 pounds! The U-Pick pumpkin patch will be open and there will be lots of fresh hot pumpkin waffles and delicious baking.

PUMPKIN PATCHES

GRANVILLE ISLAND TURKEY TROT

Monday 8:30 am start, Granville Island

The annual event brings together runners in a celebration of Thanksgiving, demonstrating our community of running, our gratitude for the sport, and our commitment to supporting others. The kids run begins at 8:50 am.

THANKSGIVING SWIM

Monday 2 pm – 5 pm, Kerrisdale Pool, Vancouver

Enjoy games, activities and prizes at this festive swim event. Regular pool admission fees apply.

MONSTER JAM

Saturday 1 pm & 7 pm shows, Sunday 1 pm show, Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver

Experience full-throttle family fun at Monster Jam, where these 12,000-pound monster trucks tear up the dirt in intense competitions of speed and skill. Witness world-class drivers show off crazy skills and all-out racing in fierce head-to-head battles for the Event Championship.

FINAL WEEKEND OF THE RICHMOND NIGHT MARKET

Saturday-Monday 7 pm – midnight, 8351 River Road, Richmond

This is the last weekend of 2023 to enjoy the Richmond Night Market. More than 250 food booths and trucks offer options from churros and butter beer to hot pot and bubble waffles.
