Great Ideas for Spending Spring Break in Vancouver

07.03.2023

Two weeks of Spring Break are just around the corner – are you ready?? Maybe you are heading out of town, or maybe the kids are in camps for the full two weeks, but if you are planning a staycation and looking for some ideas of what to do as a family, you are in luck! There are a ton of great options in and around Vancouver.

SKATING AT THE SHIPYARDS

daily 1 pm – 8 pm, The Shipyards, North Vancouver

Spring Break is the last chance to skate this season at the Shipyards. This very fun and free outdoor skate plaza is a great activity for everyone!

SNOW TUBING

Wednesday – Sunday, Mount Seymour & Cypress Mountain

Snow tubing is a great activity to do as a family and both Mount Seymour and Cypress Mountain are open through spring break from Wednesday to Sundays, from 10 am – 4 pm.

VISIT GRANVILLE ISLAND KIDS MARKET

weekdays 10:30 am – 2 pm at Granville Island Kids Market

Granville Island Kids Market is always an awesome spot to visit with the kids, hit up the arcade, the play place and more but during spring break there is extra special free programming going on during the week days. Head to their website for a full schedule of the arts and crafts and live entertainment they have lined up.

VAN DUSEN GARDEN

Open daily 10 am – 5 pm

Spring has sprung! (well almost) But it will be springing over the break and that means some new blooms coming up at Van Dusen Gardens. It’s a great place to visit and let the kids run around and explore.

THE BLOEDEL CONSERVATORY

Open daily 10 am – 5 pm

If spring break is feeling a little too chilly for your liking you can always take the kids to this tropical destination. We love taking a walk around and visiting all of the tropical birds at the Bloedel Conservatory. And once you’re done your visit you can walk around and explore Queen Elizabeth Park.

H.R. MACMILLAN SPACE CENTRE

10 am – 4:30 pm, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre

Discover how spacecraft fly and about the future of space exploration. You’ll also have a chance to explore the exhibits in the Cosmic Courtyard gallery where you can build your own Ingenuity helicopter, watch a show in the Planetarium Star Theatre and take in a live science demonstration in the GroundStation Canada theatre.

BURNABY VILLAGE MUSEUM

open from 11 am – 4:30 pm

This is a wonderful free activity where you can learn some history and explore our past. Exhibits are open with staff to interact and learn from, and there is special programming on all spring break long. The carousel is closed for repairs.

CINEPLEX SPRING BREAK MOVIES

If you get a rainy day and you just want to hit up the movie theatres, well you are in luck with Cineplex’s spring break programming. Participating theatres are playing different family favourites for just $2.99 everyday!
