I’m looking forward to a lovely spring weekend and the weather forecast will hopefully cooperate. It’s another great chance to get out and enjoy those gorgeous cherry blossoms while we have them. Here is what’s happening around town for the weekend of April 9 and 10.
SAKURA DAYS JAPAN FAIR
Saturday and Sunday, Van Dusen Gardens
A family-friendly, two-day Japanese festival showcasing Japanese cultural and performing arts, cuisine and business while celebrating spring and the cherry blossoms.
COQUITLAM CARNIVAL
Saturday 12 pm – 11 pm and Sunday 12 pm – 6 pm, Coquitlam Centre
The final weekend of the Coquitlam Carnival. Fun rides and games with a midway as part of the West Coast Amusements travelling carnival.
FOOD TRUCK WARS
Saturday and Sunday, 11 am – 8 pm, Cloverdale Exhibition Grounds
Metro Vancouver’s largest Food Truck Festival with 40 different food trucks. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to various food trucks based on categories like “Between the Buns”, “International”, “Sweets”, “Fusion”, “Classic”, and “Plant-Based”. There will also be local market vendors and two stages of live music and entertainment.
EASTER EGG HUNT AND TRAIN RIDE AT BEAR CREEK PARK
Saturday and Sunday 10 am – 6 pm, Bear Creek Park Train and Mini Golf, Surrey
Enjoy a train ride through the forest with Easter decor. Enjoy an Easter egg hunt and treat bag. Take a photo with the Easter bunny and then enjoy a play in the playground.
EASTER AT BRITANNIA MINE MUSEUM
Saturday and Sunday 9 am – 4:30 pm, Britannia Mine Museum
Event admission includes a special seasonal underground tour and access to the BOOM! Experience in the historic Mill. After your guided experience, you can complete a self-led scavenger hunt. Visitors who successfully find all of the mineral clues on site can earn a special geological prize. Advanced bookings are recommended.
