It is another jam-packed weekend full of Halloween themed events! Here is your guide to all the great family friendly events going on for the weekend of October 23-24.
PUMPKIN PATCHES AND CORN MAZES
It’s not too late to hit up a pumpkin patch and choose your pumpkin. There are so many great spots to visit, and even if you do already have your pumpkin, it’s worth visiting lots of these spots for the attractions, animals and even fodo treats. FALL FLING
Saturday 9 am – 3pm, Emma Lea Farms in Ladner
Proceeds from this event go towards the Ladner Elementary PAC playground project, enjoy the pumpkin patch, ice cream shop, baked goods and pies, live music, balloon twisting and a food truck.
KITSPATCH
Saturday 11 am onwards until the pumpkins are all gone, 4th and Burrard, Vancouver
If you haven’t picked the perfect pumpkin just yet, join the West 4th Business Improvement Association on Saturday for a pop up pumpkin patch and chance to take a photo by a professional photographer in front of the mural.
EERIE ILLUSIONS AT THE BURNABY VILLAGE MUSEUM
Saturday 5 pm -11 pm and Sunday 6 pm -10 pm, Burnaby Village Museum
Visitors will see the museum transformed into a magical world bathed in breathtaking colour, with talking crows, invisible bands and photo-bombing ghouls as part of Eerie Illusions, a Halloween event unlike anything else in Metro Vancouver. Utilizing state-of-the-art lighting, projections, soundscapes and special effects, Eerie Illusions will showcase Burnaby Village Museum’s 10 acre venue as it has never been seen before. This self-guided, family friendly Halloween experience is suitable for all ages. Tickets must be booked online ahead of time.
FAMILY FALL EVENT
Saturday 12 pm – 3 pm, Almost an Acre, 24290 48th ave, Langley
A pumpkin hunt with prizes, face painting, fall photo booth, colouring and crafts and apple cider and baked goods.
DIWALI AT THE ROUNDHOUSE
Saturday 2 pm – 4:30 pm, Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre
Celebrate Diwali with two amazing Rangolis that the audience fills in through the event to create community art. A Diya Painting Workshop with BC artist Jag Nagra and Diwali Greeting Cards Art Workshop.
BAD TO THE BONE AT THE BRITANNIA MUSEUM
Saturday and Sunday 10 am – 3:30 pm, Britannia Mine Museum
Family-friendly chills and thrills will run over this weekend and next with spell binding adventures including a lost pirate journal deep in the Underground mine tunnel, a Witches’ Lair and Wall of Wonders in the Bone Yard with skeletons of creatures both real and mythical. Not to mention the Spooky Skeleton Science Shows with petrifying wizardry, and the “Terror” Lab with a real Orca whale skeleton.
HOCUS POCUS AT THE RIO THEATRE
Saturday 5:45 pm, Rio Theatre
A chance to see one of my favourite Halloween films (if not my absolute fave) on the big screen!
EDGEMONT HAUNT
Saturday and Sunday, 12 pm – 9:30 pm, 3414 Emerald Drive, North Vancouver
An outdoor haunt display located in North Vancouver. Live actors, creepy crawlies, and terrifying sounds await those brave enough to venture inside. By donation, money raised goes towards the burn fund.
ANMORE MANOR – HAUNTED HOUSE
Saturday 7 pm – 10:30 pm, Sunday 7 pm – 10 pm, 1151 Robin Way, Anmore
A haunted house with live actors, for all ages. Entry is by cash donation to the Share Society Food Bank. Masks mandatory.
PUMPKINS AND PONIES
Sunday 9 am – 2 pm, 4615 190th street Surrey
This event includes a 15 minute pony ride to introduce your children to the wonderful world of horses. Children must be 3 years old and up to ride. Tickets purchased ahead of time for $25.
HALLOWEEN PARTY AT THE MARKET
Sunday 10 am – 3 pm, Clayton Community Farmers Market, Surrey
It’s the last market of the year and there will be special games and treats, pumpkin decorating in the Family Fun Zone, free face painting, and a Halloween photo booth. You are encouraged to show off your costumes and do some trick-or-treating at participating market stalls!
RETURN OF THE SALMON
Sunday, Kanaka Creek Regional Park, Maple Ridge
Cheer on the salmon returning home to spawn in Kanaka Creek. Check out a salmon dissection and chat with fisheries experts from the Bell-Irving Hatchery. Free event but registration required (Register as a household or group of up to 6 people). Sign up for one of the 30-minute time slots
MADE IN THE 604 – WINTER POP-UP MARKET
Sunday 11 am – 4 pm, Heritage Hall, Vancouver
There will be 30+ local vendors at this winter pop-up market, admission is by donation.
VANCOUVER COMIC AND TOY SHOW
Sunday 11:00 am – 5:00 pm, PNE Forum
General admission is $14, FREE for Kids 12 & under. 22 thousand square feet of comics, toys, pop culture and cosplay.
HALLOWEEN ON ICE
Sunday 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm, Kerrisdale Arena
Free public skate and skate rentals, dress up and take to the ice for a Halloween themed skate.
