Family Events for the Weekend of October 21 & 22

SALMON COME HOME

Sunday 11 am – 3 pm, Hoy Creek Hatchery Site, Coquitlam

Celebrate local salmon-spawning creeks and salmon at this annual event. You can visit the fish hatchery, see salmon fry, view a salmon dissection and learn about what salmon species are returning this year. There will be interactive activities including Art Cart wood crafts, an Indigenous carver and storyteller, the popular Nylon Zoo with the salmon mascot and costume parade, musical entertainment and an Explore Nature contest – prizes include a rain barrel, water wise kit, and Hoy Scott t-shirt and hat. Food will be available – a pancake breakfast from 11 a.m. to noon, and Mr. Tube Steak Hot Dog Cart will be available and will include vegan options.

EAST VAN’S HAUNTED PUMPKIN PATCH

Sunday 10 am – 4 pm, The cut, 2835 kamloops Steet, Vancouver

Presented by The Cut by Fabric Living, this Halloween event offers a pumpkin-packed experience you won’t want to miss. They will be giving away over 1,400 free pumpkins – and lots of yummy festive treats. Don’t miss Vancouver’s largest pumpkin, weighing over 1000 pounds! Enter The Great Pumpkin Contest to guess its weight for a chance to win a grand prize. Free pumpkins. Free treats. Free fun.

SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN MARKET

Saturday 10 am – 4 pm, Shannon Hall and Alice McKay Building, Cloverdale Fairgrounds, Surrey

Spooktacular Halloween Market is back for our 6th year  raising money For Surrey Hospitals Foundation! Mario and Luigi will be dropping by between 10:30-12:30. There will be face painting, bounce house, balloon twister, cotton candy, food trucks, over 90 vendors with spooky wares just for you!

SECRETS OF THE HAUNTED BOG

Saturday & Sunday 12 pm – 7 pm, Guildford Town Centre, Surrey

Visit a world where dangers, scary creatures and more lie in wait of the unsuspecting traveler. Dare to give it a try? Head on over to this delightfully haunted and FREE experience at Guildford Town Centre! Bring your little boos and ghouls for this walk-thru experience featuring NEW spooky creatures and more haunted surprises.

HALLOWEEN: CABINET OF CURIOSITIES

Saturday & Sunday 10 am – 3 pm, Britannia Mine Museum

Your adventure awaits, and the secrets of the Cabinet of Curiosities are ready to be unveiled. Enter, if you dare, and embrace the wonder and terror that await you in this captivating journey into the unknown, including an underground tour with a seasoned “monster tracker”, a terror lab with eerie specimens and pumpkin science demonstrations.

HAUNTED VILLAGE

Saturday & Sunday 5 pm – 9 pm, Burnaby Village Museum

Explore the museum as stories are lifted from their storybook pages and transformed into visual displays throughout the 10 acre open air site.

CANYON FRIGHTS

Saturday & Sunday 10 am – 8 pm, Capilano Suspension Bridge 

The spirits of the past come to life as they enjoy a Halloween gathering reminiscent of a Victorian ‘Fall Fair’. The Park, illuminated for the occasion, sets the perfect atmosphere as the festivities take an unexpected twist revealing a turn of ghostly events in the rainforest.

HALLOWEEN GALLERY OF HORRORS

Saturday 5 pm – 7:30 pm, The Arts Conservatory and Renaissance Academy, Richmond

A spooktacular Halloween fundraiser. Come dressed in costume and brave the Haunted House. Tear it up on the dance floor, play carnival games, make a Halloween keepsake and trick of treat.

PUMPKINS AFTER DARK

Saturday & Sunday 6:30 pm – 10 pmSwanguard Stadium and Central Park, Burnaby

Featuring over 10,000+ hand-carved pumpkins. Explore the magical pathway of lit pumpkin sculptures and displays, with music, sounds and special effects. With classic Halloween characters, dinosaurs and dragons, movie and pop culture icons. Adult tickets start at $18.95, Youth at $15.95. Children 3 and under are free.

ONCE UPON A HAUNTED SEA

The Haunted Sea returns to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site. Once Upon a Haunted Sea is a fairy-tale reboot of our annual Halloween event. Encounter what lurks below the waves and is haunting our oceans and sea life. Drop-In anytime. Suitable for kids of all ages.

HOWL OVER CANADA

Saturday & Sunday various showtimes, FlyOver Canada, Canada Place, Vancouver

An all-ages Halloween ride, filled with thrills, chills and music! Join Biker Mama and her sidekick Tiger Moon on an adventure soaring across Canada to a music festival that is out of this world. I took the kids last weekend and we had so much fun! A real treat.

VANCOUVER COMIC AND TOY SHOW

Saturday & Sunday 11 am – 5 pm, PNE Forum

Featuring 400 large Tables of high end Pop Culture collectibles and many different types of talented Fan Art on display the Vancouver Comic & Toy Show has steadily grown over the past decade to become one of the largest independently run shows of it’s kind on the planet!

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL’S KOOZA

Saturday & Sunday two showtimes daily, Concord Pacific Place, Vancouver

KOOZA is a return to the origins of Cirque du Soleil that combines two circus traditions—acrobatic performance and the art of clowning. The show highlights the physical demands of human performance in all its splendor and fragility, presented in a colorful mélange that emphasizes bold slapstick humor. Tickets start at $55 and up.
