ROYAL CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL CIRCUS 2023

Saturday & Sunday multiple showtimes, Guildford Town Centre, Surrey

Come under the Big Top and get a glimpse into a traditional circus world. Jam-packed with explosive live entertainment, featuring high-flying acrobatics, death-defying tricks, towering feats of strength, teetering towers of balanced bodies, extreme bending and devilishly precarious aerials!

KIDS FIRST

Saturday & Sunday 10:15, 11:15 and 1 pm, The Polygon Gallery, North Vancouver

Come get creative on the first Saturday and Sunday of the month with a day of art-making and fun. Kids First is an opportunity for families of all kinds to create an in-house art project, based on the exhibitions being shown in the Gallery. The projects are geared towards children aged 5 to 12 years old.

FINGERLING FESTIVAL

Saturday 11 am – 3 pm, Noons Creek Hatchery and Port Moody Recreation Centre

Celebrate the release of the salmon into Noons Creek with a fabulous environmental festival that is visited by over 5,500 people of all ages. It is held both at the hatchery itself on Noons Creek (fish release)AND in the ice-rink of the Port Moody Recreation Complex (exhibitors). Enjoy Bobs & Lolo putting on concerts for the kids, great food from a fundraising hotdog lunch, adults & kids learning more about our local environment from over 60 exhibitors in the ice hockey rink, plus a wide variety of children’s activities including games, arts and crafts, nature puzzles and more.

CBC KIDS BOOK CLUB LIVE

Saturday & Sunday, locations include the Vancouver Central Library and Richmond Library and Cultural Centre

CBC Kids Book Club Live is going on a west coast road trip! CBC Kids hosts Janaye and Gary the Unicorn are sharing their love of reading in-person at an event at the Central Library in Downtown Vancouver on Saturday, and on Sunday headed to Richmond to the Richmond Library and Cultural Centre. The visits will include musical storytimes featuring special guest authors, plus meet and greets, crafts, games, and more.

BURNABY VILLAGE MUSEUM OPENING WEEKEND

Saturday & Sunday 11 am – 4:30 pm, 6501 Deer Lake Ave, Burnaby

Burnaby Village Museum opens its summer season on May 6 with the launch of the exhibit: Truths Not Often Told: Being South Asian in Burnaby, which explores the diverse experience of Burnaby’s South Asian Canadian Communities. Explore historical exhibits and live demonstrations and take a ride on the restored 1912 C.W. Parker Carousel. Admission is free! Carousel rides are $2.65.

STAR WARS IN CONCERT: REVENGE OF THE SITH

Saturday 8 pm – 10 pm, The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, Vancouver

Calling all Star Wars fans! Hear your favourite music from a galaxy far, far away, performed live. Jaelem Bhate leads the orchestra through Imperial March, Across the Stars, Battle of the Heroes, Duel of the Fates, Princess Leia’s theme, and much more! Celebrate the music of John Williams and his inspirations in this one-night-only event. Come in costume, enter to win prizes, and may the force be with you.

FLEET WEEKEND

Saturday & Sunday, Shipyards District, North Vancouver

Enjoy ships tours, boat rides and many interactive activities and meet the Royal Canadian Navy sailors at Vancouver Fleet Weekend hosted by Royal Canadian Navy and Maritime Forces Pacific. Free entry.

OWL OPEN HOUSE

Saturday & Sunday 10 am – 3 pm, 3800- 72nd st, Delta

OWL, the Orphaned Wildlife Centre is having an open house fundraiser with educational bird of prey talks, raptor release every day at 1 pm, and bird of prey meet and greets. Parking available at Boundary Bay Airport, North Lot. There will be a shuttle bus taking you to and from OWL. Entry by donation.

RICHMOND NIGHT MARKET

Saturday & Sunday 6 pm – midnight8351 River Road, Richmond 

Open weekends from Apr 28 through Oct 9, the night market has exciting new decorations including a custom 60-foot bouncy castle, oversized prop chairs, neon lights, and a Wonderland-themed forest. More than 250 food booths and trucks offer options from churros and butter beer to hot pot and bubble waffles.

CHILLIWACK TULIP FESTIVAL

Saturday & Sunday 10 am – 6 pm41310 Royalwood Ave, Chilliwack

Western Canada’s largest and most recognized Tulip Festival! With between seven and 15 acres of flowers in full bloom at any given time, selfie spots and photo opportunities abound! Seven sets of swings, outdoor lawn games, a 1950s Morris convertible and a 1965 Airstream trailer are among the charming props and settings to inspire memory-making moments.
