We are headed into the second weekend of Spring Break. How is everyone doing so far? There are a number of new events taking place this weekend if you are looking for something different to do with the kids. There are also a ton of ideas in my Spring Break Bucket List if you need more ideas. Here is what is going on for the weekend of March 19 and 20.
MONSTER JAM
Saturday 1 pm and 7 pm and Sunday at 1 pm, Pacific Coliseum
Ticket prices range from $20 – $80 for this full throttle family fun show featuring action packed motor sport.
SPRING DISCOVERY DAYS AT THE FRDC
Saturday, Fraser River Discovery Centre, New Westminster
This weekend you can visit the centre and make egg-cellent nests. Birds form an incredibly important part of the Fraser River’s ecosystem, and you will learn how they protect their eggs in Springtime by creating play-doh bird nests and decorating eggs with unique camouflage patterns, just like they have in real life!
WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE
Saturday and Sunday, Presentation House Theatre, North Vancouver
This fan-favourite show, has been imaginatively adapted to suit public health orders, and will safely bring pure wonder & wow to the whole family. This is the final weekend for this show.
THE CAROUSEL THEATRE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE: GRUFF
Saturday 2 pm and 7 pm and Sunday 11 am and 2 pm, Waterfront Theatre, 1412 Cartwright St, Vancouver
A fun theatrical performance aimed at children from 5 to 10 years old. Gruff tells the story of two goats: one wealthy with plenty to eat and one poor goat with nothing, and a hideous troll. This is the final weekend for this production.
THE BIG JUNGLE RUN
Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm, Burnaby Lake Park
This themed run offers a 5km/10km Run/Walk as well as a 1km Kids Run/Walk (1pm) around scenic Burnaby Lake Park. Explore the trails, enjoy a DJ, prize giveaways and more. The route is for all ages and abilities. Pet & Stroller Friendly.
MAKING WAVES: THE ROTARACT DISTRICT POLAR PLUNGE
Saturday 10 am – 2 pm, White Rock Beach
A free community event bringing people together to support and raise money towards providing clean water to indigenous communities in Canada. The plunge takes place at 11 am, local artisans will be there from 10 am – 2 pm.
CELTICFEST
Saturday and Sunday, Outside the Vancouver Art Gallery, Downtown Vancouver
On Saturday you can enjoy free concerts and activities outside of the Vancouver Art Gallery running from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm. There is kids storytelling in the morning, plus outdoor dance performances and more later on. Musical guests throughout the day. On Sunday, there will be free activities from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Storytelling is the first event, later followed by dancers and other entertainers.
