Family Events for the Weekend of June 18 & 19

There is no shortage of events taking place around town this weekend! So many options for celebrating Father’s Day. Wishing all the dads a wonderful weekend. Here’s what’s going on June 18 and 19.

POINT GREY FESTIVAL

Saturday 12 pm – 9 pm and Sunday 12 pm – 5 pm, Trimble Park

A great community celebration with rides, games and lots of food for the family.

HILLCREST SUMMER FESTIVAL

Saturday 11 am – 3 pm, Riley Park

Stop by for a wide variety of free activities and entertainment. Featuring a performance stage with Music with Marnie, Vancouver Performing Stars and the VPL Storytime. There will also be a classic car show, fire truck, bouncy castle inflatables, free yoga class, garden demos, carnival games, extreme obstacle course, crafts, community booths and more!

PNE PLAYLAND

Saturday and Sunday , Hastings Park

Back open for the summer season! Admission to Playland gives you unlimited access to over 30 rides and attractions including the climbing wall and mini golf course.

SURREY FEST DOWNTOWN

Saturday 11 am – 4 pm, Holland Park, Surrey

Live entertainment, great food and tons of family fun!

SCOTSFEST BC: THE BRITISH COLUMBIA HIGHLAND GAMES

Saturday, Town Centre Park, Coquitlam

All the fun of a great west coast highland games, with pipe bnds, caber tossing, lots of piping, dancing, singing, a whisky school, and live Celtic music.

LANGLEY COMMUNITY DAY

Saturday, 11 am – 6 pm, Douglas Park, Langley

Food truck festival, rock climbing wall, children’s entertainment, crafts, games and more.

GREENDALE DAYS

Saturday, 9 am – 6 pm, Greendale Acres, 41905 Yale Road West, Chilliwack

In celebration of Greendale Acres changing its name (formerly known as the Chilliwack Corn Maze), come out and enjoy a day of family fun! Pancake Breakfast, kids bike rally, face painting, live music and all the regular amazing activities like the giant jumping pillow, pedal carts, duck race, indoor hay bale maze, tractor rides, farm animals and more.

FATHER’S DAY AT THE BURNABY VILLAGE MUSEUM

Sunday, 11 am – 4:30 pm, Burnaby Village Museum 

Enjoy some great Father’s Day special programming at the museum. Free admission to enjoy the annual vehicle, motor sports and motorcycle display presented by the Greater Vancouver Motorsports Pioneers Society, plus a scavenger hunt and more.

FATHER’S DAY AT THE FARM

Sunday 12 pm – 4 pm, Historic Stewart Farm, Surrey

Spend some quality time with Dad at the farm. The theme of the weekend is Victorian Gadgets and Gizmos! The Greater Vancouver Garden Railway Club will also be onsite with a large-scale model railway display on the lawn. With some locomotive inspiration, head to Stewart Hall to make a train themed Father’s Day card.

INTERNATIONAL PICNIC DAY

Saturday 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, Hazelgrove Park, Surrey

International Picnic Day celebrates caring for your local park and getting together outdoors with your friends, and family. Pack a picnic and celebrate at this free outdoor event. Enjoy games, fun park activities, Icelab Shaveice truck, mini golf, and a DJ!

HATS OFF DAY

Saturday 10:30 am – 3:30 pm, Hastings Street between Boundary and Gamma, Burnaby

Hats Off Day will  feature entertainers and free activities in select locations from end to end (Boundary to Gamma) of the district. Your favourite local merchants will host their usual storefront activities, sales, and other celebrations for the day.

RICHMOND LAVENDERLAND OPENS

Sunday 10 am – 8 pm, 8460 Steveston HWY, Richmond

Spend Father’s Day wandering among the gorgeous lavender plants as this lavender farm opens for the season.

CLASSICA AUTO ITALIANA – VANCOUVER AUTO SHOW

Sunday 11 am – 3 pm, Italian Cultural Centre

This Father’s Day, give your dad that ultimate gift by taking him to Il Centro’s Classica Auto Italiana – the finest display of classic Italian automobiles and motorcycles. The show is free admission for all.

FAMILY FREE FISHING DAY

Sunday 9 am – 2 pm, Lafarge Lake

Come to Lafarge Lake for a free family-friendly day of fishy fun and prizes during BC’s free fishing weekend – when anglers can fish BC’s waters without a licence. Experts will be on site to teach participants new techniques on catching rainbow trout. Other activities include fly tying, casting lessons and salmon raffle.
