Anyone else wondering how we got to the middle of January so fast!? This month seems to be flying by. Another quieter weekend but still some fun (and yummy) ideas for things going on around town for the weekend of January 15 and 16.
HOT CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL
Okay, it’s not so much of a festival as it is a great excuse to head out with the kids in search of the yummiest, most decadent hot chocolate around. This is the 12th year of the hot chocolate festival and you can check out 100 different hot chocolate designs at 67 participating locations. Head to the website to see all the participating locations.
STREET FOOD CITY
Saturday and Sunday, outside the Vancouver Art Gallery
Another yummy destination for the weekend. This street food festival is part of Dine Out Vancouver. 12 food trucks, tented picnic tables and music make for a festive mid-winter outdoor picnic! It’s also right next to Robson Square outdoor skating rink if you want to combine the outing.
SOAR OVER TAIWAN
Saturday and Sunday, Fly Over Canada, Canada Place
It’s almost time to ring in the year of the Tiger, so what better time to check out the ‘Soar Over Taiwan’ show now on at Fly Over Canada.
RILEY PARK FARMER’S MARKET
Saturday 10 am – 2 pm, Nat Bailey Stadium, Vancouver
This winter farmer’s market is still going on all season long on Saturdays. Drop by and shop local with more than 80 arms and producers, food and coffee trucks.
LIGHTS AT LAFARGE
Saturday and Sunday, Lafarge Lake, Coquitlam
This beautiful display won’t be on for too much longer. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I highly recommend it! Head to Coquitlam and enjoy a beautifully lit loop around the lake. Stroller friendly and great for all ages. It runs until the end of January.
CANYON LIGHTS
Saturday and Sunday, Capilano Suspension Bridge
If you missed visiting the lights at the Capilano Suspension Bridge over the holidays, you still have a chance. A great outing with the kids, climb up among the trees and enjoy all of the gorgeous light displays.
