Celebrate an Earth Day afternoon with Stanley Park Ecology Society (SPES)! Drop by the Earth Day event to meet staff and learn about the society’s projects and mission, and join in on the fun yourself. SPES staff will be leading free guided tours exploring the local wildlife and plant species that we help steward, Birds Canada will be leading some relaxing bird watching, and our Schools Programs team will be leading some family-friendly eco games.
MAPLE RIDGE EARTH DAY

This eco-inspired, all-ages event includes the Family Freecycle, the Cycle Recycle Free Bike Draw, arts & entertainment, interactive booths, flash mobs, a special Haney Farmers Market, electric vehicles, a Food Truck Festival and more.

Pick up your Adopt-a-Fish Certificate outside the West Vancouver Memorial Library and head to Memorial Park to release a juvenile Coho Salmon into the wild! At 10:30 a.m., families can enjoy a special Fishy Fun Family Storytime on the West Vancouver Memorial Library’s rooftop.

Head to the FRDC to celebrate the important work that pollinators do to help keep the Fraser watershed healthy. Early spring is a wonderful time to get to know the bats, butterflies, and even hummingbirds hard at work. Without them, plant-life in the basin would have a very hard time growing fruits or seeds.

SURREY VAISAKHI PARADE

Every April, millions of Sikhs world-wide celebrate Vaisakhi Day, a day that marks the New Year. The largest Vaisakhi Parade in the world occurs in Surrey, where approximately 500,000 people attend the annual Surrey Khalsa Day Vaisakhi Parade. The parade features a colourful and entertaining procession of over 2500 participants representing 20 community organizations. Hundreds of booths along the route, sponsored by local businesses and families give away free food and treats.
