LOVE LIGHTS

Saturday and SundayThe Capilano Suspension Bridge

This Valentine’s themed light up spectacular at Capilano Suspension Bridge is running until February 28. Imagine the Christmas lights event but re-worked for sweethearts (and also so much fun for families). Remember for BC residents, one admission is the same price as a yearly membership.

FAN EXPO VANCOUVER 2022

Saturday – Monday, 10 am – 5 pm, Vancouver Convention Centre

A three day sci-fi, horror, anime and gaming event. Lots of family-friendly attractions and events like princesses, a Harry Potter sorting hat, Science World demos, and more.

BURNABY VILLAGE MUSEUM

Monday, 12 pm – 4 pmBurnaby Village Museum

The Carousel pavilion is open for family day. Take a ride on the historic carousel and enjoy live entertainment from The Boytles – four talented youth performing a tribute to the Beatles. Go back in time to remember your favourite hits, and dance along with this new version of the Fab Four.

BILL REID GALLERY

Saturday, 11 am – 5 pm, Bill Reid Gallery, 639 Hornby Street

Learn more about Indigenous Northwest Coast art and culture at the gorgeous Bill Reid Gallery. Admission is free for all from 11-5 pm on Saturday February 19.

HISTORIC STEWART FARM

Saturday – Monday, 12 pm – 4 pm, 13723 Crescent Rd

A three day weekend of celebrations at Historic Stewart Farm. Enjoy a tour, take in a heritage demonstration, make crafts and do a scavenger hunt. Free admission.

FRASER RIVER DISCOVERY CENTRE

Monday, 10 am – 4 pm, Fraser River Discovery Centre, 788 Quayside Drive

The FRDC is running a variety of fun and engaging activities exploring the geology of the Fraser River and its Watershed. Admission is free, but pre-registration is required.

BRITANNIA MINE MUSEUM

Saturday – Monday, 9 am – 4:30 pm, Britannia Mine Museum, Britannia Beach

This award winning museum and national historic site is fun for all ages. Get 50% off General Admission tickets for B.C. residents all weekend long. Book your tours online ahead of time.

VANCOUVER AQUARIUM FAMILY DEAL

Saturday – Monday, Vancouver Aquarium

From February 11 to 21, explore Canada’s largest Aquarium together with one child entrance for free with a regular ticket purchase. Vancouver Aquarium members can bring a friend for free during this period also.

FAMILY DAY AT THE NIKKEI CENTRE

Saturday, 10 am – 5 pm, N6688 Southoaks Crescent, Burnaby 

This is a free event with various family-friendly activities. Activities include a scavenger hunt, Tsumami Zaiku workshop, cookie decoration workshop and more!

KIDS TAKE OVER UBC

Saturday – Monday, virtual online and many in-person events at UBC locations

Enjoy a collection of online programming in the virtual treehouse or visit UBC campus on Sunday, February 20, for family-friendly activities in some of UBC’s extraordinary museums and cultural amenities.

GO FOR A FAMILY SKATE

The free outdoor rinks at Robson Square in downtown Vancouver and the Shipyards in North Vancouver will both be open for skating all family day weekend long. Also, Burnaby has Family Day toonie skates at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre on the Monday, Kerrisdale Arena is offering a free skate on Sunday from 5:30 pm to 7 pm and Delta is also encouraging skating on Family Day Monday with a number of skate times at the Ladner Leisure Centre, South Delta Recreation Crescent and the Sungod Rec Centre.

FAMILY YOGA

Sunday 11:30 am and Monday 10 am, Uphoria Yoga

All ages welcome yoga class that you can attend with your family. Sign up early as spaces are limited.

ATTEND A UNIVERSITY SPORTS GAME

This Saturday the UBC Women’s and Mens Volleyball teams are hosting UBC Okanagan at War Memorial Gym. The women play at 3 pm, the men follow. Tickets are free but must be reserved online, get them before they sell out! And UBC hockey is also playing at home, catch the women and men play host to Regina and TWU – Women play at 3 pm at Doug Mitchell Arena, men play at 7 pm.

GO FOR A FAMILY HIKE

The long weekend is such a great time to get outside and take advantage of the many wonderful trails and hikes we have right outside our front door. I recently blogged about some of my favourite family-friendly hikes to take the kids on. Check it out at the link above.
