Family Events for the August Long Weekend

VANCOUVER PRIDE PARADE & FESTIVAL

Saturday & Sunday, Concord Pacific Place, Vancouver

VanPrideFest returns to Concord Pacific Place on August 3 and 4 for a free two-day extravaganza! Saturday’s lineup will bring top-tier drag talent to the TD Main Stage, featuring performances from Canada’s Drag Race. The annual Vancouver Pride Parade will take place on August 4 starting at 12 pm. This staple celebration will paint the town rainbow and lead the party into the last day of VanPrideFest.

KITSILANO BLOCK PARTY AND PICNIC

Saturday 3 pm – 7 pm, Tatlow Park, Vancouver

80 foot colouring, temporary tattoos, twinkle wands, decorate your own soccer ball, make a paper bag puppet, and many garden games to be enjoyed.

SUNSET FAMILY FUN

Monday 11 am – 1 pm, Sunset Community Centre, Vancouver

Swing on by for some free, family fun including Crafts, Games, Play gym and a bouncy castle

MAPLE RIDGE CARIBBEAN FESTIVAL

Saturday & Sunday 12 pm – 9 pm, Albion Fairgrounds, Maple Ridge

Enjoy the live entertainment stages, where musicians will entertain you with sights and sounds of steel drums, reggae beats, and more. Best of Reggae, Afro Beat, Salsa, Latin Fusion, Soca, Ska and Steel Drums. This is a free, family event.

TSAWWASSEN SUN FESTIVAL

Saturday – Monday, Winskill Park, Delta

A three-day celebration of fun in the sun, jam packed with special events, games, friendly competitions and many other attractions. There’s an Outdoor Summer Movie Night at the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall, while most events take place at Winskill Park. Check out the classic Car show that happens every year on the big field, and the Beer Garden which is in the shaded tree area behind Winskill Pool. The pride of the Sun Festival is the annual Rotary Parade which heads down 56th Street from 16th Avenue to Winskill Park.

48TH POWELL STREET FESTIVAL

Saturday & Sunday 11:30 am – 7  pm, Oppenheimer Park, Vancouver

Celebrate Japanese Canadian art and culture on the BC Day long weekend! This year, there are more than 60 performances and presentations across multiple venues. The event also features panels, walking tours, martial arts, taiko drumming, a sumo tournament, Japanese food and craft booths, children’s activities, and more.

KOREAN CULTURE HERITAGE FESTIVAL

Saturday 10:30 am – 7 pm, Swanguard Stadium, Burnaby

Come out for the 22nd Annual Korean Culture Heritage Festival. Explore cultural demonstrations, food, Korean wares and more!

WHITE ROCK SEA FESTIVAL AND SEMIAHMOO DAYS

Friday – Sunday, Various venues, White Rock

The White Rock Sea Festival is a weekend-long celebration of the best the City By The Sea has to offer. Don’t miss this exciting combination of live entertainment and amazing family-friendly events, such as an outdoor movie, kids zone at Semiahmoo Park, live entertainment stages, and fireworks.

HARMONY ARTS FESTIVAL

Friday – Monday, West Vancouver waterfront

Enjoy visual arts, live music, great children’s workshops, food, and entertainment at the annual Harmony Arts Festival.

SQUAMISH DAYS LOGGERS SPORT FESTIVAL

Friday – Sunday, Various venues, Squamish

Squamish Days is full of fun, excitement, action, and entertainment for the whole family! There is music, children’s activities, a kettle boil, a parade, wacky bed races, chainsaw chair carving, pancake breakfast, two world class Loggers Sports Shows, and so much more. Always a family favourite, the Squamish Days parade will begin at 11:00 am on Sunday.

BRIGADE DAYS

Saturday – Monday 10 am – 5 pm, Fort Langley National Historic Site

For over 25 years, the Brigade Days event has been a cherished tradition at Fort Langley, and it’s making a grand return this BC long weekend from August 3 to 5! The weekend will be packed with exciting, family-friendly activities that bring the 19th century to life.

CHILLIWACK CORN FESTIVAL

Saturday & Sunday, Greendale Acres Farm, Chilliwack

Celebrate the joy of summer and the deliciousness of sweet corn! The corn festival will feature good old-fashioned farm fun including our first corn-eating and corn-shucking competition 11 am and 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday! Test your speed and appetite against fellow corn enthusiasts and see who can claim the Chilliwack Corn Eating Champion. Enjoy live music performances and let the kids explore a range of exciting activities designed just for them!

VANCOUVER STREET DANCE FESTIVAL

Monday 10:30 am – 5 pm, Robson Square, Vancouver

Join for an all-out, full-day extravaganza of street dance battles, mind-blowin’ showcase performances, live music that’ll make your speakers bump, and a whole lotta love for our vibrant, diverse street dance culture in Vancity!
