VANCOUVER HOT CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL

Saturday & Sunday, various locations around Vancouver

The Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival returns for its 14th year. With over 162 hot chocolate designs featured at 105 locations, there’s lots to discover!

RIVER BASIN DAYS: WINTER WEATHER WONDERS

Saturday 2 pm, Surrey Bend Regional Park

Held on the second Saturday of every month, River Basin Days is a series of outdoor public programs hosted by the Fraser River Discovery Centre. This weekend learn all about the basics of weather, how humans and animals stay warm in winter weather and observe and record the weather through a weather tracking journal.

CANYON LIGHTS

All weekend, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

This is another gorgeous event worth visiting as you ring in the new year. Visit the world-famous suspension bridge all lit up, and climbing among the Treetop Adventure.

LIGHTS AT LAFARGE

All weekend long, LaFarge Lake, Coquitlam

This is Coquitlam’s free, and stunning outdoor light display around LaFarge Lake. It is a wonderful and festive walk. It is stroller friendly, and the distance is not too long so its very doable for young kids.

UBC BASKETBALL GAMES

Saturday 4 pm & 6 pm, War Memorial Gym, UBC

You can bet on exciting basketball action when the UBC Thunderbirds take on the Manitoba Bisons this Saturday. Women play at 4 pm and Men at 6 pm. Kids aged 12 and under get in free!

SNOW TUBING

All weekend long, Cypress Mountain

With the recent snow, the tubing area is now open! These tubing runs are a lot of fun and so is the tube tow to do the work of bringing you back to the top. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a paying adult. And you must be 42″ tall or age 6+ to visit the Tube Park!

MT SEYMOUR SCAVENGER HUNT

Sunday 11 am – 3 pm, Mt Seymour

This Sunday Mt Seymour staff will be hiding thousands of dollars of ski and snowboard prizes between 11 am – 3pm. Find the Mt Seymour token and then take it to the retail hut at the top of the Lodge Chair to claim your prize. Follow Mt Seymour’s instagram to get clues throughout the day.
