LUMIERE FESTIVAL

Saturday & Sunday, 10 locations across downtown Vancouver

This festival brightens the city during the season of darkness with a series of illuminated artworks, light-based projections, dynamic performances and interactive workshops. This year, Lumière Festival will showcase a variety of artists and their works of art, including international artists from France, Poland and the United States. METRO VANCOUVER CROISSANT CRAWL

Do you have some croissant lovers in your home? Round up your croissant crew; pick a route; and walk, bike, or drive from one croissant to the next. 25 flavours in 2 weeks.

RIVER BASIN DAYS: NATURE POETRY

Saturday 2 pm – 3 pm, Kanaka Creek Regional Park, Maple Ridge

Held on the second Saturday of every month, ‘River Basin Days’ is a series of outdoor public programs hosted by the Fraser River Discovery Centre, geared towards families. This weekend learn about different forms of poetry, ways to use descriptive language, and consider the many perspectives of poetry. Bring good shoes and ample curiosity! This activity is aimed at families and older children.

CELEBRATE CINEPLEX COMMUNITY DAY

Saturday morning, Select Cineplex locations

Cineplex is kicking off the Season of Giving with the return of Community Day. You can visit the local Cineplex theatre to celebrate Community Day by enjoying a FREE movie and helping raise money for BGC Canada (formerly Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada) on the morning of November 4th.

UBC VARSITY GAMES AND PLAYOFFS

Saturday, times below, UBC Campus

This weekend is the home opening weekend for UBC Basketball. Catch the women’s and men’s teams take on Lethbridge at War Memorial Gym, women play at 4 pm and men at 6 pm. Also the UBC men’s football team hosts its first playoff game in a big match up versus Manitoba. Watch that game at Thunderbird stadium at 1 pm.

ELF: THE MUSICAL

Showtimes Saturday and Sunday, The Stanley Theatre, Vancouver

Join Buddy the Elf on his expedition from the North Pole to New York City, where he’s determined to win over his new family with Christmas cheer, syrupy spaghetti, and heartfelt songs. Great show for all ages! Ticket prices range from $46 – $142 and the show runs from this weekend through December.

BEAR CREEK LIGHT FESTIVAL

Saturday & Sunday 4:30 pm – 9 pm, Bear Creek Park, Surrey

Surrey’s Light Festival at Bear Creek Park is a beautiful evening display of illuminations. This is free event, but you need to book your entry time, it takes place between November 3 and November 11.

DIWALI DOWNTOWN SURREY

Sunday 2 pm – 5 pm, Surrey City Hall

Diwali Fest welcomes you to Indian Wedding themed celebrations this year to mark our organization’s 20th Anniversary of curating Diwali events in British Columbia. eExperience the excitement of a Baraat (joyful wedding day procession) and Shaadi (wedding ceremony)! Immerse yourself in lively performances by South Asian musicians and dancers. Be a part of the festivities – wear sparkling attire and enjoy Music and Dance performances at the Surrey City Hall.
