Happy first weekend of June! I love all of the fun festivals and community block party events that are kicking off as we inch closer to summer. Check out some of the fun events taking place in and around Vancouver for the weekend of June 4 and 5.
THE VANCOUVER CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL
Saturday and Sunday, Granville Island
World-class theatre music dance circus puppetry and storytelling performers will entertain Vancouver children and families. Highlights of this year’s Festival include Juno Award-Winner Fred Penner Indigenous dance artists Dancers of Damelahamid and African circus stars Kalabanté.
PITT MEADOWS DAY

This free family event is a community tradition and includes a pancake breakfast, a parade, artisan market, entertainment, food trucks, a family friendly beverage garden, children & youth activities and more!
LADNER BANDFEST
Saturday and Sunday, 10 am – 5pm, Memorial Park, Ladner
Over 500 amateur adult musicians playing in for continuous free 40 minute concerts on two stages all day, both days throughout the weekend. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy an old-fashioned weekend of concert band music.
BRIDGE FESTIVAL
Saturday, 11 am – 10 pm, Ambleside Park, West Vancouver
Enjoy immersive cultural experiences, flavours from around the globe, and live performances from over 30 local and international performers.
LIONS GATE COMMUNITY REC CENTRE OPENING CELEBRATION
Saturday, 1 pm – 4 pm, 1733 Lions Gate Lane, North Vancouver
Entertainers, games, arts and crafts, storytime, sports and fun activities for all ages.
DAY OUT WITH THOMAS
Saturday and Sunday, The Railway Museum of British Columbia, Squamish
Thomas the Tank Engine is rolling into town for a weekend of big fun. Jump on board Thomas for an interactive train ride, pick up your Dream Pass and head to the Play Pod or say Hello to Sir Topham Hatt.
CHILLIWACK COMMUNITY BLOCK PARTY

CYPRESS MOUNTAIN EAGLE COASTER
Saturday and Sunday, Cypress Mountain
The Eagle Coaster ride is open for another season and it is truly a fun ride! Travel over 1700 metres with 279 meters of vertical drop. Riders can control their own speed by using the brake and can safely reach thrilling speeds of up to 40 km per hour winding down the track with forested vistas and exciting bends in the track. KIDS MARKET CRAFTS
