The first weekend of November is here, and after a very busy past few weekends leading up to Halloween, well this one feels a little quieter. It’s also looking cloudy and rainy, so if you are looking for some indoor activities then check out my recent blog post for some ideas on the BEST ATTRACTIONS FOR A RAINY DAY. Here are some other event ideas for what is going on for November 6-7.
RICHMOND FIREFIGHTER’S PUMPKIN DROP
Saturday and Sunday, 9 am – 4 pm, 11011 No. 2 Rd, Richmond
Bring your Halloween pumpkins to the Steveston Firehall and watch your pumpkins explode! Off duty firefighters will be raising money for the Richmond Firefighters Charitable Society.
DNV FIRE PUMPKIN DROP
Saturday, 10 am – 3 pm, 900 Denis Ave, North Vancouver
Bring along your Halloween pumpkins and for a donation get to drop them from the hose tower!
FLY OVER CANADA – THE REAL WILD WEST
Saturday and Sunday, 12 pm – 8 pm, FlyOver Canada, Canada Place
There is a brand new flight ride experience that takes visitors on a soaring journey over the American west. Riders must be at least 40 inches tall.
KIDS FIRST SATURDAYS
Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm, The Polygon Gallery, North Vancouver
An opportunity for families of all kinds to create an in-house art project based on the exhibitions being shown in the gallery. The projects are geared towards kids aged 4-14. Admission is by donation. Time slots are at 10 am, 12:15 pm, and 2:30 pm.
GIRLS AND STEAM
Saturday, 9 am – 12 pm, Science World
A free engaging opportunity for ages 11-13 years old to attend workshops, hands-on activities, panel discussions and more.
LIGHT FESTIVAL AT BEAR CREEK PARK
Saturday and Sunday, 4:30 pm – 8:30 pm, Bear Creek Park, Surrey
It seems like the first holiday light display is already up and running. These illuminated gardens and audio displays have free admission but you need to book your time slot online. Time slots are available every 30 minutes.
KRUISE FOR KIDS
Sunday, 9 am – 1 pm, George Preston Rec Centre, Langley
The Greater Vancouver Car Club Council is collecting toys and donations for The Lower Mainlang Christmas Bureau. It’s a drive thru event that invites people to decorate your car and come through with your donations. There will be T-shirts for the first 150 entrants.
ATTEND A VARSITY GAME
University sports are back up and running and attending a game with the family is great fun! The UBC Thunderbirds Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams are taking on Fraser Valley University on Saturday. Check out the full schedule and reserve tickets HERE. In Langley, the Trinity Western Men’s and Women’s volleyball teams are hosting Thompson Rivers on Saturday. Ticket info for that is HERE.
