Fall has crept up on me and all of a sudden we are in the season of cosy sweaters, rain boots and watching Hocus Pocus (at least a few times). It is also the season for hitting up the pumpkin patch! We are pretty lucky in the Lower Mainland as there are a ton of great options for taking the family out to pick out a pumpkin – whether you enjoy a smaller no-frills pumpkin patch, or a huge spend-all day doing activities kind of place there are so many to choose from. Here is my list of some of the best spots around – some I’ve visited, and some I hope to hit up soon!
Southlands Heritage Farm
6767 Balaclava Street, Vancouver, B.C.
This one is just a few minutes from our house, so it is super convenient for us but it is also super adorable! At this small, urban farm you can check out the goats, sheep, chickens and horses while picking out your pumpkin from the old apple orchard. Some of the pumpkins are grown on site and are brought in from Westham Island Herb Farm.
Admission is $8 per person & includes 1 pumpkin each. Kids under 2 are free. Extra pumpkins may be purchased at the gate for $8 each.

Richmond Country Farms
12900 Steveston Hwy, Richmond, BC
This is the pumpkin patch I grew up going to with my parents and I have great memories from there. Richmond Country Farms has also been putting on a fabulous sunflower festival the past few years, and the gorgeous dahlias and exhibits from that are still up and worth a view when you visit the pumpkin patch.
Westham Island
4690 Kirkland Road, Delta, BC
Last year we visited Westham Island Herb Farm for our 2020 pumpkins. They had a huge selection of u-pick pumpkins of all shapes and sizes as well as plenty to buy from the stand if you don’t want to trek out into the (often muddy) field. The family behind Westham Island loves to celebrate Halloween and they have some great displays to check out as well as hot drinks and treats to purchase.
No price for admission to the farm, just pay for your pumpkins!
Open from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Emma Lea Farm
2727 Westham Island Rd, Delta, BC
Right next door to Westham Island Herb Farm is Emma Lea Farm, another great option for choosing a pumpkin. This is one of our favourite places to go berry picking during the summer and they have a lovely business.
There are a wide variety of pumpkins and gourds to choose from and you can explore their “Oat Maze” to find jokes scattered throughout the field. You can also enjoy a hot apple cider from the Ice Cream Shoppe and warm up around the fire.
No admission price, just pay for what you pick.

There are actually two different Laity pumpkin patches, they are both across the road from one another but one has more activities aimed at a younger crowd (children under 5 or so) while the other pumpkin patch has activities for older kids. So something for everyone!
